Wedding Flowers

       "Locally grown flowers are in"

There are a few things to consider when making the decision to purchase local fresh flowers.

  1. Who will do the arranging (choose someone who is good at putting colors together and is dependable)
  2. What varieties, what colors and how many stems.
  3. Your total budget.
  4. Who will choose the flowers and how many stems?
  5. Who will pick them up at one of our three markets and when?
  6. You will need clean large pails the day of pickup.
  7. You will need vases, oasis and must know the approximate size of each design.

My advice is to attend the Portsmouth Market by 8AM the week before the wedding to look at our full line of available flowers.  We do not buy flowers from other sources. We grow them all and many crops have a period of limited availability and quantity.  (Usually, flowers sell out early).

Flowers are purchased on the spot for that weekend wedding, from mid-June to late September. We offer many pre-bunched flowers at Portsmouth, also lots single stem sunflowers, lilies, gladiolus and more. If you plan to purchase flowers the same weekend, it is best to arrive at our display about 7:45AM to choose your flowers. You will be the first in line when the market starts at 8:00am.  No farm pickups

Planning results in beautiful flowers for your wedding for a fraction of florists costs.

Approximately how many stems are needed?

For bud vases – 3 to 6 flowers.

For small, two-sided table designs – 15 to 20 flowers.

Head Table, two-sided design (low design) 30 to 40 flowers plus greens.

        Church design, one-sided – 8 to10 lilies or 45 to 50 flowers, each design.

Bridal flowers with bow – 2 to 5 lilies or 20 to 30 mixed flowers.
